Tra non molto arriverà una guida su come effettuare la modifica più conosciuta, più performante e più completa, per un sistema Xbox 360, ovvero il Reset Glich Hack (RGH).
Il Reset Glitch Hack (RGH) è una modifica hardware per console Xbox 360 fat e slim che permette di avviare codice non firmato Microsoft come homebrew, emulatori, dashboard alternative etc e di caricare i giochi direttamente da hard disk interno ed esterno USB.Il RGH è inteso come un insieme di operazioni utili a far caricare al sistema Microsoft un “Custom Software” del calibro di Xell o di Freeboot. La madre delle operazioni nasce attraverso il cpu_reset, ossia viene comandato in un preciso momento lo spegnimento per circa 15 nS della CPU, assegnandogli uno stato logico di 0.In questo lasso di tempo vengono saltate dalla CPU, delle istruzioni di verifica Hash ( o firma digitale) del CB_B. Questo non controllo da parte della CPU fa sì che qualsiasi modifica al CB_B sia accettata rendendo possibile quindi la modifica di tutta la catena di controlli, atti a verificare l’autenticità dei passaggi che portano al boot di un Kernel. Con Freeboot (dashboard del tutto simile alla NXE originale Microsoft) e Xell (software indispensabile durante la modifica RGH, in quanto permette il recupero della CPU e DVD KEY), sono i principali software utilizzati durante e dopo la modifica RGH.
Generalmente attraverso i moderni chip è possibile avere tempi di avvio decisamente bassi, anche sotto i 30 secondi su console Trinity/Corona, il tutto in 2/3 cicli massimo. Ovviamente è necessario utilizzare chip di buona fattura e fra questi sicuramente il Proto V2 del Team Xecuter è fra i migliori (se non il migliore) in circolazione, ad prezzo decisamente irrisorio.
